Glitter Lace Scarf

I am so happy to be showing you my second scarf for the 2010 season - the Glitter Lace scarf.  This beauty is knit with a gorgeous rayon metallic yarn.  The photographs really do not do the colors justice.  They are soft, muted grayish blue and a rose clay-like color with copper metallic thread running throughout.  This is a super soft, drapey scarf that is long enough to wrap around the neck and have a length on either side, or simply hang it around your neck and let it sparkle and catch the light.

Criss-Cross Scarf

This is the first of my samples for the 2010 winter and holiday season.  There are nine in all.  Before I show you this one, let me tell you a bit about the way I insist on making my scarves.  First of all, they must be reversible, that is, both sides are the same.  There is no wrong side and no right side.  Many hand knitted scarves have a wrong side;  I don't like the way that looks when the scarf is being worn, so you when you get a scarf from me you won't have to fiddle with it to get the right side to show.  I also insist that they pass the softness test. Afterall, it is worn around your neck, so it has to be soft as well as warm, comfy and, of course, beautiful.  I use only the finest yarns and tend to favor merino, silk and cashmere, especially when two or more of these fibers are combined.


The Criss-Cross Scarf is knit with a luxuriously soft, plush angora-merino blend.  This is a shorty - a neck warmer - with a pass through loop, so that once you pass one end through it will stay in place and keep you nice and warm.  There is a crocheted flower sewn to the loop which just adds the finishing touch.

About Me

I have been knitting all my life, that is, since the age of five when my mother taught me how. I still remember the first piece I ever knit. It was a pale pink blanket for one of my dolls, and though full of mistakes, I was ever so proud of it. Knitting is like breathing for me; I cannot go more than a very few days without knitting, and although I crochet, needle felt, embroider and tatt, I always return to my knitting. It’s like food for my artistic soul.

My first bears were knitted. After two years I changed to crocheting them, and then a year or so ago, (in the autumn of 2008) I began needle felting them. Gradually I also started making “friends” - little mice, piglets, pixies and elves. As you browse through the slide shows on each of the pages of the website, you will get a good sampling of my various creations in the different formats.

Last winter I designed and knit a line of scarves which were extremely well received, and so at this moment I am working on new samples to offer for the 2010 holiday season. I will be posting them on this blog as they are finished.
